Las Mangas: The Francis Experiment, Part 2

I arrived to be greeted by my son and am now settling in to my small room along the Cangrejal River. (See photo.) There is not time, nor are their words (in the limited time I have internet access) to describe the living situation. I will regsiter only small glimpses in each post. In these photos you see a picture of the river from my front porch, as well as a banana tree in the yard. The chickens are our friends and the inside door is the truck Jon and I drove in from La Ceiba to Las Mangas. (There is another truck with a better interior, but this one still functions, so is used regularly.)

I will soon send an update about the 5-inch scarab beetle crawling on the floor of our kitchen yesterday, and other fascinating details as they continue to unfold. I am speaking a messy slosh of Spanish-Italian, but manage to make myself understood. All of the (8 or 9) children who live on the grounds with us are learning the word "ciao." I can't help using it. It is the perfect and most poetic greeting and salutation that has ever been created linguistically.
I will post again next time we return to civilization.

I'm envious. Wish I were down there.

Is this blog page the best link to use for you?

I just created a "friends' books" page and added you. I used your blog, because I couldn't find another site. (Some other woman grabbed wendymurray.com. The nerve! hahahha.)
